The Winery

Westport Winery and Vineyards By-the-Sea was named King 5 Evening Magazine’s 2012 and 2013 Best Wine Tour, the 2011 Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest and was King 5 Evening Magazine’s 2010 Best Destination Winery.

Grays Harbor’s first winery and vineyard welcomes visitors daily to sample the winery’s 33 award-winning red, white, and fruit wines. The gift shop is known for its incredible selection of gourmet food, apparel, books, and gifts.

The winery’s Farm to Fork restaurant is open for lunch daily and for dinner on Friday and Saturday (dinner reservations recommended). The fresh, local, healthy, homemade food at Westport Winery is simply the best and was voted one of Western Washington’s top ten new restaurants in 2011. In the beginning of 2012 the family added a bakery to their already incredible project open daily in the tasting room with homemade from scratch pies, cakes, cookies, bars, and of course, cupcakes!

The sculpture garden features original art by local artists, commemorating each of the winery’s labels. Find your way through the grape maze, toss some horseshoes, play a game of wizard chess, or putt two greens while you tour.

The winery is known for its commitment to the community by being open daily and by donating a portion of the proceeds from each wine to support local charities. The 66.5-acre farm is certified salmon safe and grows grapes, berries, tree fruit, herbs, and produce. Pets are welcome outdoors on leash. In May of 2013 the Roberts family announced that they would be creating Grays Harbor's first arboretum and botanical garden on their 40-acres across State Route 105 from the winery.

Look for the 40-foot lighthouse halfway between Westport and Aberdeen on Highway 105 to find friends, food, fun, and incredible wine. There’s plenty of room for RVs too!

The Roberts Family

Blain and Kim Roberts founded this venture on the urging of WSU agricultural extension agent, Don Tapio. “You should plant a vineyard and open a winery. It will be historic.” They purchased the land now known as Vineyards By-the-Sea in February 2007 and opened Westport Winery in March of 2008. Their son, Dana, is their winemaker and their daughter, Carrie, is their general manager.

In addition to their commitment to the business, everyone in the Roberts family has a passion for the sea and Washington’s coastal community. They express their passion by crafting great wines in a friendly atmosphere. Separately, they are ordinary individuals. As a team they complement each other to create a place and products that surpass expectations. Together the family selects a local charity to benefit from each of their wines. Their passion is the community, they express that passion by creating great wines and lasting memories.

Blain was a nationally rated surfer in the 1970s, a Los Angeles County Lifeguard, scuba instructor, and founder of Lahaina Divers on Maui. Both Blain and Kim were licensed Coast Guard captains who met in Westport when Blain was building a boat and Kim was an architect with degrees from Washington State University. Dana and Carrie were both competitive swimmers with degrees from Eastern Washington University. Dana is a graduate of Washington State University's professional winemaking program. While Kim and Carrie are certified divemasters, the surfboards on display in the winery are often missing as both Blain and Dana surf the breaks in Westport. And no trip to the beach is complete without their dogs and a pocket full of agates.

Their love of the water and the community’s seafaring history are reflected throughout the property. According to Washington Tasting Room Magazine, "Filled with harmonious connections to the sea, Westport Winery is a coast traveler's dream."
